The 10th annual "Redhook Ride" of 2014 has come and gone. No blood, no broken bones, no hospital visits, no stories to carry on into the future. This was the Redhook that was really fun to start, but petered out and ended mellow, and without incident. Not surprisingly, I am really disappointed. Perhaps we are all getting older, maybe people are getting smarter about trying to survive the ride without medical intervention, maybe we are just getting lame. Whatever it is, the Redhook Ride is just not what it used to be. We still had a blast though! The ride out there was awesome with chants of "Smile! Smile! SMILE!" to every road biker that zipped by with a serious road racer look on their face. People rode at a leisurely cruiser pace which made for a more relaxed, social ride. I think most people were more drunk on the ride out than on the ride back (except for Marco.) Zanna had her bubble machine, Alex had his conch (which has to claim TBD this year, having come flying out of his basket twice to crash on the pavement), and everyone had their bells and horns to make a general ruckus as we passed by. It was a fun group of riders, and we had a good time. But it was not the Redhook of old. Sigh. That's the way it goes...

Here is a video of the event. Sorry, it's only a single camera so I did the best I could with the footage I had. Enjoy!

The first "Loop The Lake" of 2014...Save The Date!

Save The Date!

The first “LOOP THE LAKE” cruiser ride of 2014 is coming up on Sunday, July 13th!*

You have heard all about it, you have seen the videos, now here is your chance to take part! As always, we will be leaving from the downtown REI at 7:30 sharp for a relaxed and easy cruise around Lake Union, with a halfway stop at the Nickerson Saloon for food and drinks. After getting “recharged” we will wake up the night on the way back to REI with cruiser bikes adorned with as much lighting, noise-making, and decoration as you can dream up! The only rule is “No skinnies off the front!” Bring your cruiser (or any bike you have) and come ride with us. It’s the most fun you can have on two wheels!
CRUISERS RULE!!!

*Weather Permitting...pray for sun!

A Greenlake kinda day!

I had an amazing day on Greenlake yesterday. I decided that it was time to shake the dust off the Red Baron, so I rolled down to the lake to do a short loop. What was supposed to be a short loop turned into 4 loops for almost twelve miles of sun, incredible scenery, fun dog watching, and gorgeous cruising! Afterwards, Dina came home from work, hopped on her cruiser Daisy, and we rode up to Chutneys for some delicious Indian food outside on their patio. Afterwards, of course it was back down the hill for one more loop and a total of almost 18 miles on my Ellsworth Ride! Definitely a Greenlake kinda day, and exactly the reason I live here. It's gonna be an amazing summer! Snap from the ride below...
